Training platform of fashion design by personalized
3D virtual garment fitting
The proposed design learning/training platform will enable to adapt professional people working in the fashion sector to the latest technological innovations and new Internet-based business models, which have been widely developed in different EU projects, creating a link with the current EU projects in terms of innovation. Three databases of textile materials, colors and garment styles as well as two fashion knowledge bases will be built and integrated into this platform. The developed platform will permit to mainly improve and extend the current training systems of fashion design and technology. The library of knowledge on fashion design can provide necessary resources (samples, styles, design rules) to students during their training activities. Body shape and garment virtual try-on will enable students to master effects of design and quickly make changes towards an optimized design scheme. A software platform integrating the 3D body scanning system, the 3D virtual garment fitting system, the “library of knowledge” for fashion design, and the user interfaces. This platform is composed of the following components: – a 3D body scanning system (hardware and software on body modelling) – a set of representative human body models – a 3D virtual garment visualization and fitting system – a guide for presenting several virtual design methods with the developed platform. The training platform will be initially assessed by the project target group formed by 50 teachers and 150 students and then by its open access feature will be accessed by a greater number of users. The transferability potential is due to the fact that also other students and teachers can access this result for their master/doctoral thesis in related fields and other professionals from companies.
